As you may know, one of our main goal at Bebup is to bring young producers out of their bedroom studio, well, Roma is the perfect example.
I first met him in the backstage of a sweaty cave in Bordeaux . He was this youthful kid telling me how he spent the last two years of his life in his room, going deep on Ableton under the influence of high THC level substances. I'm a nice person and i always tell people to send me their music, i like to check out things i guess.
At first listen i was blown away by the way he manages textures and spatialization while keeping an "easy structure", after a few mails we soon arrived to the 4 tracks that composed the No Future EP .
Those tracks fits well in nowadays musical scene, yet they have something different, interrogating, typical coming from someone that dares without caring that much about the scene.
The tittle track, No Future, is a dark, powerful trip, alternating between a violent storm of toms falling from the sky and subtle water-drop/drone melodies .
Remember Me synthesize Roma's rage, stuttering vocal claiming for recognition, rave stabs, and nervous hihat patterns build what we can call a modern club banger.
Mardon Branlo is slowly releasing the pressure sets by the first 2 tracks, like a sunny spell bringing hope, everything isn't that bad after all.
The Ep ends with 6PM, the track starts like an early 2000's pc presentation screen, see what i mean ? Hewlett Packard kinda advertisement . But, believe it or not, Roma manages to turn that into a sexy modern house track, both physical and tormented.
