Ingredients

  • For the Asparagus
  • 1 1/2 lbs asparagus woody ends snapped off
  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil such as avocado or grapeseed oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds for finishing
  • For the Sriracha Honey Dressing
  • 3 tablespoons sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 garlic clove finely grated
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon water to loosen

Method

  1. Whisk together the sriracha, honey, lime juice, garlic, and sesame oil in a small bowl. Add the water a little at a time until the dressing loosens enough to drizzle. Set aside.
  2. Pat the asparagus completely dry.
  3. Heat the oil in a large skillet over high heat until it shimmers.
  4. Add the asparagus in a single layer, leaving space between spears. Cook undisturbed for about 2 minutes, then toss or turn and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes, until bright green with dark, blistered patches.
  5. Season with the salt in the last minute of cooking.
  6. Transfer the asparagus to a serving plate, drizzle with the sriracha honey dressing, and scatter the sesame seeds on top.
